Dear runner,
Applications for entry into the 2011 Coast to Kosci closed at 3pm on Sunday 2 October. Successful applicants will be notified by 5 October, with payment required by 12 October.
A refund of the entry fee will be available up to 16 November, less a $50.00 administration charge. No refunds are available for athletes withdrawing after this date. Athletes competing in the Great North Walk 100s ( 12/13 Nov) have satisfactory time to assess their recovery.
All prospective entrants should note that it is mandatory for all runners to have a support crew and vehicle for the event. We will endeavour to assist overseas athletes in liaising with prospective volunteer crews if required.
Please read the notes about selection criteria below:
2011 Coast to Kosci Selection Criteria |
We have revised the entry criteria in an effort to minimize the risk to athletes by ensuring that all starters are as prepared as possible to safely complete this event. The entry criteria are ultramarathon specific to help ensure the safety of our competitors, and that the finishing rates continue to stay as high as possible.
- The primary criteria for entry into the 2011 Coast to Kosci is the completion at least two official ultramarathon footraces of at least 100km in length in 2010/2011 (at least one of which must be in 2011). Please see a listing of Australian events at http://www.aura.asn.au/events.html and
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/calendar/ultra.php?TargetCal=AURA&Months=12
- All running performances must be recorded in official races, including (but not limited to) those advertised on the hyperlinks above. Training or solo runs will not be considered under any circumstances.
- If, as expected, applications exceed the capacity of 50 competitors, entries will be granted at the discretion of the race directors. Foremost in our minds as we do this, will be the ability of applicants to demonstrate that they are adequately prepared to complete this event safely within the allotted timeframe of 46 hours.
- In doing this, preference may be given towards runners who have completed a 100 mile or 24 hour event, although runners who have completed the required 100k races (including Trailwalker events) at a suitable running pace will still be considered.
- In the aforementioned instance of applications exceeding capacity, a waitlist of unsuccessful applicants will be maintained should runners withdraw prior to the event. The waitlist will operate until November 20, 2011.
