Dear runner,

Applications for entry into the 2010 Coast to Kosci will open at 3pm on Sunday, 26 September.

Applications will remain open until 3pm on Sunday 10 October. Successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible after the close of applications, with payment required within 7 days of this notification.

A full refund of entry will be available up to 17 November, which will allow athletes who are also competing in the Great North Walk 100s (13 / 14 Nov) to assess their recovery.

Please read the notes about selection criteria below:

2010 Coast to Kosci Selection Criteria

We have revised the entry criteria in an effort to minimize the risk to athletes by ensuring that all starters are as prepared as possible to safely complete this event. One of the most notable differences in entry criteria this year is the removal of Ironman events and adventure races from the selection criteria.

These events represent a significantly different challenge to Coast to Kosci, and we, as race directors of this event, feel that moving towards an entry criteria which is more ultramarathon specific will help to ensure the safety of our competitors, and that the finishing rates continue to stay as high as possible.

- The primary criteria for entry into the 2010 Coast to Kosci is the completion at least two official ultramarathon footraces of at least 100km in length in 2009/2010 (at least one of which must be in 2010). Please see a listing of Australian events at http://www.aura.asn.au/events_2010.html and
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/calendar/ultra.php?TargetCal=AURA&Months=12

- All running performances must be recorded in official races, including (but not limited to) those advertised on the hyperlinks above. Training or solo runs will not be considered under any circumstances.

- If applications exceed the capacity of 50 competitors, entries will be granted at the discretion of the race directors. Foremost in our minds as we do this, will be the ability of applicants to demonstrate that they are adequately prepared to complete this event safely within the allotted timeframe of 46 hours.

- In doing this, preference may be given towards runners who have completed a 100 mile or 24 hour event, although runners who have completed the required 100k races (including Trailwalker events) at a suitable running pace will still be considered.

- In the aforementioned instance of applications exceeding capacity, a waitlist of unsuccessful applicants will be maintained should runners withdraw prior to the event.
